Endoscopic Surgery, New and Improved Surgery
Surgery, no matter how you look at it, seems to be invasive, expensive, and even
frightening, for most people. However, a combination of innovative technology and medical research has allowed the Western
society to come up with some fairly amazing tools and techniques that make surgery less
terrible. One of these is the
use of a technique called endoscopic surgery or key-hole
surgery. Special instruments have been created and
tested to allow doctors to make smaller incisions, and patients to be able to heal much more quickly.
Endoscopic surgery can be used for medical reasons as well as a cosmetic surgery.
Endoscopic Surgery Procedure
It is something rather amazing to think about. Endoscopic surgery is now being used in all kinds of
hospitals and clinics around the nation. From plastic surgery to other, more common procedures, this endoscopic technique has allowed
surgeons to seriously improve the way they do things.
Essentially, a small incision is made in the area of treatment, and a tiny tube
with a camera connected to the end of it can then be inserted into the body. Another lead with specialized tools can also be
inserted through another incision, and the work can be done mostly internally. The doctor has the ability to see what is going on
due to the camera, and modern tools and technology can then take care of the surgery without having to completely
open the body.
Most incisions made are about 1/3” to ¾”, and this may vary depending on the
instruments that need to be inserted. The time to complete surgeries using this method may differ from more traditional ways, but the
recovery time for the patient is dramatically less.
Endoscopic Surgery Contraindications
Most of the contraindications for any type of endoscopic surgery will mirror
exactly those of any other traditional surgical procedure.
Medications that are used for blood thinning purposes, people with heart problems,
and individuals in poor emotional and physical health are generally not recommended for this type of
surgery. Even smokers must agree to
quit smoking for an extended amount of time before undergoing endoscopic surgery
Endoscopic Surgery Price
Because this specialized way of performing surgery is relatively new and requires
highly advanced and expensive technology, the cost of an endoscopic operation may be slightly more than the cost of
a regular surgery. This cost, of
course, will depend on the type of surgery itself.
Endoscopic Surgery Complications
There seem to be s lower frequency of adverse complications that result from
endoscopic surgery than those resulting from more traditional methods. However, these, including swelling, infection, and
scarring, may occur. If you experience serious or painful symptoms, your
Physician will prescribe you an appropriate treatment to fight against these health issues.
